The first year of schooling is an exciting time for you and your child!
Prep is a full-time program that runs five days per week. Age is the only criterion for enrolment in the Prep year for Queensland children. Your child must be five by 30 June in the year they enrol in prep. To determine when your child can commence their prep year, use the prep ready reckoner calculator.
The Education (General Provisions) Regulation 2006 enables principals to consider early entry to prep for children who turn five years by 31 July.
It should be emphasised that:
- The standard Prep entry cut-off date remains 30 June in the year a child enters Prep.
- A quality kindergarten program in the year before Prep is the best education option for all children.
- Early entry for July-born children should be by exception only, where it is in the best interests of the child.

Our Prep curriculum follows the Australian Curriculum Foundation level, as well as incorporating play based curriculum based on the Early Years Curriculum Guidelines.
